On July 30, 2021, 7 members of the Dedeoğlu family, including 4 women, were killed as a result of an armed attack in Konya’s Meram District, on the grounds that they were Kurds. . Afterwards, their houses were set on fire
and they were burned.
This massacre against the Kurdish people is neither the first nor will it be the last. The murder of the Şenyaşar family, the murders of Deniz Poyraz, Ceylan Önkol, Uğur Kaymaz, and the fact that Taybet Ana’s body was kept in the middle of the street for a week after she was murdered shows the AKP government’s enmity with the Kurdish people and the murderous policies of fascism. “We are nationalists, we will not accommodate the Kurds here!” that those who say that they are not even detained, that those who attack Kurdish youth for speaking only Kurdish will not be punished, that those who fight for their democratic rights will “do whatever is necessary, whether they are women or children”. Being targeted by Erdogan is an indication of fascism’s hostility to the Kurdish people. That fascism is hostile not only to the Kurdish people, but to everyone who is not of it. And with chauvinism, he wants to destroy the brotherhood between peoples that has been going on for thousands of years. It aims to maintain its own order of exploitation by dividing and dividing peoples and making them hostile to each other. He organizes the massacres himself or prepares the ground for it, but at the same time tries to hide his responsibility. What happened after this massacre was no different. The statements made by AKP administrators after the massacre, such as “what happened is brutality”, “we condemn the massacre”, “who are responsible will be punished” are to hide the responsibility of the AKP government in the massacre. Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül’s statements that “the first findings are that there is no racist attack” are aimed at distorting the facts.
The AKP government is responsible for the massacre. It is the policy of fascism to intimidate peoples with massacres that have continued from the past to the present. The only weapon of the peoples against this policy is to resist. Therefore, we call on all our people to resist the massacres of fascism. Like the Şenyaşar Family and the Özçelik Family, we call on them to resist and increase the struggle for justice. It is the people who are strong, not fascism. The strength of fascism comes from the disorganization of the people. We will organize and hold accountable for the massacres of fascism.
