HHB Statement: Lawyer Seeks Right in His Grave
On September 28, 1994, Atty. Fuat Erdogan was executed by a bullet in the neck. Those who murdered Fuat were the defendants in the execution files, where he was the lawyer of the murdered.
On April 5, 2006, Atty. Behiç Aşçı said, “I did everything legally possible.” After saying that, he started a death fast to end the isolation. On January 7, 2007, the Ministry of Justice’s circular numbered 45/1 was published and resisted for 293 days. On April 5, 2020, Atty. Ebru Timtik and Atty. Aytaç Ünsal announced that they started a death fast to ensure the right to a fair trial. They put forward their bodies against those who want to take the Ombudsperson’s hand and use the judiciary as a weapon for this. They were the first barricades against the attack of injustice directed at the peoples. Even in this brief expression, the values and traditions created by the revolutionary advocacy and advocacy of the people can be understood. Ebru and Aytaç were able to resist death because they were representatives of this tradition. We got our strength and resistance from this tradition. Ebru and Aytaç became two new circles in our history. Where the pressures, detentions and captivity were not enough, they tried to arrest them again 10 hours after their release and sentence them to 159 years. We dedicate our lives to the struggle for justice. We stand against every injustice done to the peoples. Are we going to put up with this injustice? Ebru lived like a poem written in the middle of life. With her resistance, she announced the injustice to 2 million lawyers around the world. Today, many honorary members of the baron have a street named after him. He did not recognize the arrest warrant issued 10 hours after his release, but could only find him in a fit of fascism. Ebru wrote: “They found my body in a shelter. with those who resist, with the poor, with our peoples. Ebru is a banner, a flag in our hands. His name is the call to struggle.
